Johnikin went to lengths to adjust Haliburton's shooting technique, even using his 3-year-old grandson as a defender during practice sessions to address Haliburton's low release point.

His distinctive shot mechanics start with the ball in front of his chest and end with a catapult-like motion, resulting in significant sidespin. While unconventional, this technique has proven to be highly effective. Pacers guard TJ McConnell marvels at Haliburton’s shooting, saying, “To the average fan, or anybody who plays, obviously it isn't textbook. But there's no denying how effective it is. It's straight cash, is the best way I can put it.”
Haliburton's shooting percentages underscore McConnell’s sentiment. He has consistently shot above 40% from beyond the arc in his six seasons spanning both Iowa State and the NBA. The only dip in his three-point accuracy came last season, attributed to his rushing back from a hamstring injury, a testament to his dedication and competitive spirit.
